Wizkid, Davido inspire each other to ‘go harder’, says singer CDQ

Nigerian singer, Yusuf Sodiq, popularly known as CDQ, has expressed joy over the viral video that showed Wizkid and Davido hugging each other at a club.

Fans of Wizkid and Davido have been at loggerheads as they claim that both stars were involved in a feud.

The new viral video allayed fears of fans as it portrayed that both singers were on good terms.

Reacting to the video, CDQ revealed how Davido and Wizkid had met him individually to discuss the other.

CDQ noted that Wizkid and Davido love and inspire each other to go harder in their musical journeys.

He wrote, “I just woke up now to a video of Wizkid and David hugging each other finally. Awon osinwin eniyan meji (Two crazy people.)

“After I have suffered for years trying to balance the relationship between both. Wizkid would say, ‘Your brother is hosting a show, won’t you support him?

“Davido would say, ‘Tell your brother to bring a jam, let us work’. Then I knew these two low key love each other and been inspiring each other to go harder.

“Today, I feel like the happiest person on earth and I feel like buying cows to just throw a big party.

“Now please you both should give us that collaboration that the world has been waiting for in 2022.

“The song arrangement should be 4 x 4 bars each between Wizkid and Davido till the end of the song. Let Burna Boy sing the hook and let’s put Nigeria number 1 in the world.”

Like CDQ, fans have been clamouring for a song that’d feature Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, especially after the viral video circulated the internet on Saturday morning.

‘I’ve suffered’ — Jaruma opens up after rumoured arrest

Jaruma, the sex therapist, has opened after reports emanated that she was arrested by the police in Abuja.

The therapist, in an Instagram video, made reference to her recent rift with Ned Nwoko, the Nigerian politician and businessman, and Regina Daniels, his actress wife.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by The President’s Girlfriend (@jaruma_empire)

Regina had earlier called out Jaruma for claiming that she used one of her potions to keep Nwoko.

Jaruma had thereafter alleged non-delivery on an advertisement job for which she claimed to have paid Regina.

Nwoko subsequently denied involvement with Jaruma and her products, contrary to the claims by the therapist.

He also clarified that his marriage to Laila Charani, his Morrocan ex-wife, ended not as a result of Jaruma’s potion.

In her video, Jaruma suggested certain persons used their police influence to intimidate, arrest, and detain her.

“I’ve suffered. I don’t understand how someone will abuse (insult) you. And then you abuse the person back. But they will now use the Nigerian police to bully, intimidate, and silence you,” the controversial sex therapist said.

“You take someone’s land or plantation. They complain. But you send the police to arrest and put the person in prison. I paid N10 million for a job that wasn’t done. I complained and my own landed.

“How many Nigerian youths do you want to put in prison? When people Google your name, only the list of Nigerian youths you’ve put in prison comes up. Who will now vote for you?”

I’m happy I got married though sometimes miss being a bachelor — D’banj

Popular singer and entertainer, Dapo Oyebanjo, aka D’banj, has said that though he is happy he got married at the time he did, he sometimes misses being a bachelor.

Speaking shortly after being unveiled as a judge on the music reality show, Nigerian Idol, he said, “It is very important for me when I say that I am so happy I got married for the right reason. There are reasons people do certain things and if one does it for the wrong reason, it would affect one. I got to a stage in my life when I needed to grow an empire and in order for one to do that, one has to be stable and have a best friend as a partner.

One also has to be true to oneself. I pray to God a lot and the Bible says, ‘He who finds a wife, finds a good thing’. I got married to my best friend, who knows and understands everything about me. Because of that, we could grow together. Yes, once in a while, one misses those days (of being a bachelor). But, I am happy because that is the difference between Dapo Oyebanjo and Dbanj, the Koko Master. Whenever I get on stage anywhere, I become the Koko Master. It (marriage) has not reduced the amount of kokolets (ladies) that flock around me and rush to the stage. However, one has to be committed to one person and that is what life is.”

D’banj, who has never participated in any music reality show, noted that he accepted to be a judge in the competition because he believes in grooming and encouraging talents. He said, “This is the first time I would be a judge (on a music reality show). I have done several things through the years but this is the first time I would be doing something like this.

“I accepted the offer because first, I am a Nigerian. Secondly, I think there is no better time than now because of the growth of the industry. The growth of the industry is such that it is important for us to embrace what God has given us. This is a journey we have been on for over a decade and we have been accepted globally. That is why it is important to ‘grow’ what is on the ground.”

D’banj also stated that he had decided to focus more on his business for now. He said, “I tell people that music gets one into the room but what one does in the room is entirely up to one. Since I became a family man, I have been more focused. This is my sixth year of marriage and since then, I have looked for different platforms (to do business). Only about 10 per cent of the wealth of top musicians like Jay Z and Kanye West come from music. The rest is from their business ventures.”

The singer, who recently unveiled his perfume line, however stated that he would still continue to release songs. He said, “Music is forever going to be in me. We grew up not having anybody to look up to but now in the industry, there are people to look up to. I won’t say music is not profitable. But, having the luxury lifestyle that one wants goes beyond music alone.”

On if there is any chance of him still collaborating with Don Jazzy, the singer said, “If we are paid ‘big’ money. Somebody wanted to pay us last year (2021) but it was Don Jazzy that moved it. He won’t like that I said it was him but that is the truth. We are all connected in a group and they said we would do Mo’Hits Reunion but I was out of the country then. But, Don Jazzy later said we should move it to 2022, so that we would do it bigger. So, it is Don Jazzy you should ask. We are (still) friends.”

Why most veteran actors are off the screen – Nollywood actor, Emeka Ossai

A Nollywood Veteran and Film Director, Mr Emeka Ossai has said most veterans in the industry were of the screen because movies produced by the so-called “New Nollywood actors” lacked originality.

Ossai speaking when members of the Creative Industry Group (CIG) visited the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Lagos Office, said a chunk of the movies produced, lacked focus.

Ossai said the Nollywood industry was pulled out of the woods by the efforts of the veterans and ensured it remained afloat.

“The veterans started the path called: Nollywood some years back and were able to colonize Africa and the diaspora to love our contents and to love Nigeria.

“To sustain Nollywood, the kind of story we tell should be original and indigenous.

“Some people have infiltrated the industry with the colonial mentality of doing business; they want to adulterate our culture by bringing in some content outside our cultural identity.

“People acting and mimicking the whites when they are blacks by speaking through their nostrils and changing the trajectory from contemporary Africa stories should rethink,” he said.

Ossai argued that there had been some unwritten values in the Nollywood industry, which had helped it grow and must be protected.

“Some producers of movies have created “New Nollywood” by bringing in untrained artists. In our own time, we were trained either formally or informally.

“We were trained in the Nollywood through apprenticeship or actual practice overtime before becoming a frontrunner in the business.

“Some artists can play the role of a “Waka Pass” for 10 years before getting a lead role. A fresher cannot muscle an old hand in a role within a short time,” he said.

Ossai reiterated that the Nollywood industry needed the inputs of the veterans who would provide leadership for the new entrants to flourish.

He said some of the new films produced by young artists that go to the cinema should have the inputs of the old hands for it to be recognised.

Nollywood actor, Imeh Okon has warned former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan against running for Presidency in 2023.

There have been speculations that the ex-president may dump the opposition party for the APC in a bid to emerge the platform’s flag bearer in the 2023 presidential poll to complete his second term, which he lost to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

The defection rumour was fueled by Jonathan’s regular visit to the State House to meet with President Buhari.

Okon in a recent post on Instagram said Jonathan as a President for one term will not be successful as he cannot change Nigeria in such a short time.

Giving his reason, Okon said too much damage has been done by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration hence one term is too little to fix it.

He pleaded with Jonathan to shelve the bait and remain the hero he is.

Okon wrote: “Rumors have it that Goodluck Jonathan is being wooed to run for president again. Abeg your excellency as tempting as it may sound, Don’t. Too much damage has been done and there is too little you can do to fix it in just a term.

“Imagine bringing Ronaldo in 90+2 minutes to turn around the fortunes of a team that is down by 7 nil what he will he do? Magic?

“Remain the legend and hero you are sir. Duck the bait.”

Céline Dion cancels remainder of North American dates on Courage world tour

Citing her ongoing health issues, Céline Dion has made the tough choice to cancel the rest of the scheduled North American concerts on her Courage world tour.

The Canadian singer had completed the first 52 shows of the tour before the Covid-19 pandemic began. In July of 2021, she rescheduled the last half of the tour for dates in 2022.

During a pause in the tour, she had been treated for severe and persistent muscle spasms which prevented her from performing.

Dion’s recovery is taking longer than she hoped, and her medical team continues to evaluate and treat the condition.

“I was really hoping that I’d be good to go by now, but I suppose I just have to be more patient and follow the regimen that my doctors are prescribing,” Dion said in a news release.

“There’s a lot of organizing and preparation that goes into our shows, and so we have to make decisions today which will affect the plans two months down the road. I’ll be so glad to get back to full health, as well as all of us getting past this pandemic, and I can’t wait to be back on stage again.”

The remainder of her tour included some Canadian stops: Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Vancouver.

According to a news release, tickets purchased with a credit card through authorized ticketing outlets will be refunded automatically to the credit card used for purchase. Ticket holders of the cancelled performances will soon receive an email notification with more information.

“I’ve been very touched by all the words of encouragement that everyone’s been sending to me on social media. I feel your love and support and it means the world to me.”

Portable, who became the rave of the moment in December, disclosed that he left school to focus on his music career because music is a money-making machine.

The controversial artist, in a recent interview with Jahbless on his podcast, Jahbless Original Intelligence, said that he knew right from the start how much wealth music could give him so he faced it full time.

Portable said, “Music brings money and is a fast money-making machine.

“If you sing you must have money unless you’re not good at it, if you’re a musician, you must be rich. I observed that I make a lot of money whenever I sing.”

The Zazu singer added that before his fame in December, he met some people who killed his career with ‘over-packaging’.

“You know if they don wicked you severally. So I brought the whole craziness into the music industry.

“Even if you want to do business with someone who reaps you off, make sure you let them know that you are aware of the kind of person they are but you still want to do business but they should also be mindful that you are not weak,” he said.

“They know say I sabi sing but they did not open the door. I have met a lot of people that said I’m good but it all ended there. They will sign you and keep you in a room, even when you meet influential people who intend to sponsor you but they will kill your career with over-packaging.”
