Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula is said to have settled on his Sister-in-Law for nomination in the Nairobi City County Assembly.

In a list doing rounds in social media, former sports CS Rashid Echesa is said to have forwarded the name of his sister just as is the case with nominated senator Millicent Omanga who is said to have settled on her blood sister.

Starehe MP Jaguar Kanyi is also said to have picked his girlfriend popularly known as Wambui for nomination.

Sources indicate that no slot was spared for the Kamba, muslim and commuties from the Coast.

Why Rigathi Gachagua is DP Ruto’s worst Choice, Bure KABISA!

Rigathi is Ruto’s Achilles heel

Achilles was a Greek soldier who had supernatural powers that made him indestructible and spears and arrows could not penetrate his body. Achilles however had one part of his body that was vulnerable to destruction, his heel. Greek mythology has it that Achilles mother dipped him into a river when he was a baby to make him invulnerable and the only part that was not touched by water was the heel she held. Achilles fought and won many battles but he was felled by an arrow that pierced his heel.

William Ruto just like Achilles, looked invincible to his rivals until Rigathi happened. Ruto has kept this country in campaign mode for the last four years, his boss did not like it but there was little he could do. Ruto has been accused of corruption and other wrong doings but none of the accusations bothered the hustlers. The hustlers said the system was targeting them, that Ruto was one of them and would form a government of hustlers. Then Rigathi Gachagua, a billionare with shady past happened and things fell apart. The hustlers started doubting Ruto and wondered why he picked a billionare and not one of them.

Rigathi hit the road running after his nomination but his utterances
while out there made things worse for his party. When Rigathi is not badmouthing the police force, he is badmouthing women guild and the choice of their dress. Then out of the blues and with no provocation, Rigathi tells the Kamba nation how insignificant their votes are. Rigathi within a short time has become a hit with Azimio crowd and whenever he was out of news, they demand that he be handed the mic. In Rigathi, the Azimio people found Ruto’s Achilles heel and are aiming their arrows at it. In the one or two months Rigathi has been running mate, he has done more harm to Ruto presidential bid than any other person.

It is not just utterances that make Rigathi an Achilles heel good for shooting practice. Rigathi has a dark history that is now coming out in the open. As a special DO for Molo, he is said to have facilitated the eviction and killing of his Kikuyu kinsmen. In Limuru where he was a DO in 1993, Rigathi oversaw a reign of terror that saw several people die and many injured. I watched a video clip of Limuru peasants telling of their tribulations during Rigathi reign and their tribulations sounded very similar to the ones told by people who lived through the emergency period of 50s in Mount Kenya region. Rigathi is godsend for Azimio but the man still need to be tried for the crimes against humanity.

Whereas Rigathi is Ruto’s Achilles heel, Martha Karua is Ruto’s waterloo. Ruto the self-proclaimed Mount Kenya kingpin is no longer sitting pretty. There is a new kid on the block and it is a girl, and man, this girl is kicking asses like no man can do.

Tinubu,Shettima: North Central APC Forum rejects Lalong’s appointment, urges him to decline

Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of the North Central APC Forum have called on Governor Simon Bako Lalong to immediately reject his appointment as the Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Organization.

They described it as an insult to the region.

The Forum said it had been canvassing for the emergence of the next President from the zone.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, Saleh Mandung Zazzaga explained that their initial stance was not to compromise the 2023 Presidency for any other position, because apart from the military era, the region had not produced either the president or the Vice President.

Zazzaga noted that it then became obvious that their push for the presidency could not be actualized since the APC, in a way of mutual understanding, considered the Southern part of the country for the presidency.

He said that they immediately began to canvass for the Vice Presidential slot, which eventually went to the North East.

According to him, “If the North Central is not good or qualified enough for the presidential ticket because the party thinks nobody from the region has the political weight to pull votes from the Northern region come 2023, how come then has the party or presidential candidate in the person of Tinubu become so trustful of someone from the region to become the presidential campaign organization Director-General?

“Our concern in the 2023 elections is either the President or Vice President, but we were denied because they considered us either not qualified or competent enough. But as soon as it came to Director-General of the presidential campaign, we suddenly became the most qualified.

“Ironically, it is the same Governor Simon Bako Lalong whom we have been canvassing support for as either President and then later as a presidential running mate/vice president, that was suddenly appointed as the Director-General of the party’s presidential campaign organization. We spent lots of resources pushing for either the presidential slot or vice president at different times and it was all over the media since last year.”

“We, therefore, consider Lalong’s appointment as insulting, degrading and making the region irrelevant in the political calculation of the country. We won’t accept this because this is quite unfair and sort of relegating our people to the background.

“That is why we are calling on Governor Lalong to reject this offer, and those celebrating his selection from the region should desist henceforth because this is a great slap on our face.

“We have been pushing for the good of the region in national political affairs all along, but those who have never lent their voices, time and resources to our cause are busy celebrating the ‘relegation’ of our region in this 2023 elections at the national level. This is quite insensitive, unfortunate and regrettable,” he said.

2023: Why Keyamo will keep promoting LP ahead of PDP – Adeyanju

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has been urged to keep promoting the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Deji Adeyanju, an Abuja-based activist, said Keyamo’s decision to promote Obi ahead of Atiku would keep dividing the opposition.

Adeyanju made the remark while faulting Dino Melaye’s comment against Keyamo.

Keyamo had said the former Anambra State governor was more competent than Atiku.

Angered by Keyamo’s comment, Melaye, said the Minister lacked the moral bearings to attack Atiku.

Melaye challenged the minister to a debate where he vowed to break him (Keyamo) into pieces.

Reacting, Adeyanju, in a series of tweets wrote: “If I’m Keyamo, I will keep saying Obi is more competent that Atiku to annoy Dino and even continue to promote Peter.

“The more APC promotes LP, the more they divide the opposition. They might have plans to fund LP, especially in SE. Politics is very simple to understand.

“Dino is so angry Keyamo said Obi is more competent than Atiku in that interview. Like I said yesterday, it’s a good strategy for APC to keep promoting Peter Obi. In fact, it’s a perfect strategy. It’s a win-win for the APC.”

I’ll ensure Tinubu’s victory as campaign director, says Lalong

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, newly appointed director general of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Organisation, yesterday vowed to do all within his power to ensure the success of the APC in next year’s presidential election.

The party’s vice-presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, separately appealed to youths to unite to vote for the APC flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, promising that youths would play a pivotal role in government if the party won.

Lalong told party supporters who welcomed him at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, on his return from Abuja: “This is another time for us to work for the victory of APC and also the victory of Tinubu/Shettima presidential ticket.”

He urged Nigerians to keep religion out of politics.

Lalong stated that his position as the campaign council’s director general demonstrates that Plateau people are respected in national politics and that the state will support the APC.

He said: “Campaigning for Tinubu/Shettima Presidential election will not be a new thing for us in Plateau State; it is not a difficult task at all. It was the same difficulty we faced in 2015 when some people said we would not win the election because we were tagged a Muslim party, but we won that election.

All I want is for us to cement our relationship. Nigeria is one nation. The challenges that we have are not from the Muslims or the Christians. We have common challenges and our duty is to unite the people for development.

“I have capable hands on ground whom we will work together to deliver APC in the next election,” he affirmed.

Governor-elect, Adeleke reacts to burning of PDP lawmaker’s home in Osun

Unknown hoodlums, on Friday night, set ablaze the Ede residence of the parents of Kofoworola Babajide.

Babajide is the Minority Leader in the Osun State House of Assembly.

It was also gathered that residents of Ede town are now living in fear in the aftermath of the incident.

Babajide, while speaking to journalists on Saturday revealed that his father has not been seen since his house was burnt down.

He disclosed that before his parent’s house was burnt, some hoodlums suspected to be political thugs had earlier attacked some members of the Peoples Democratic Party at the venue of a ward he attended in Ede.

“Some armed thugs attacked us during a ward meeting of PDP in Ede yesterday (Friday). After that, I left for Osogbo. Later, I was told that they were attacking my parents’ house. They burnt the house and since then, I have not seen my father.

“We don’t know if he’s burnt alive inside the house or they have kidnapped him.”

The Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke has since reacted to the development.

His spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke accused the outgoing Governor, Gboyega Oyetola of plotting to destabilise the state ahead of his exit from office in November.

He stated that the agenda is to start conflicts and reprisal attacks from Ede which will eventually engulf the whole state ahead of the transition exercise.

Senator Adeleke who strongly condemned the arson attacks on the lawmaker’s family called on security agencies to nip in the bud, the emerging agenda to plunge the state into crisis, warning that the peaceful conduct of the July election and the jubilant mood post-election should be sustained.

“I urge security agencies to swing into action and bring to book perpetrators of that dastardly attack on an innocent senior citizen whose only sin may be that his son is the PDP’s minority leader in Osun State House of Assembly. Acts of violence must stop as election is not war.

“I appeal to the political class in Osun state particularly Governor Oyetola to be mindful of the harsh socio-economic condition of our people at the grassroots. We should respect their choice of leadership. It is immoral to further complicate the prevailing hardship with mindless politically motivated violence.”

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party also called Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and security agencies to immediately arrest the situation in Ede and other parts of the state before it escalates.

The Caretaker Chairman of the PDP, Adekunle Akindele in the statement on Saturday also condemned the attack on Babajide.

The Osun State Police Command has since confirmed the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola said the incident happened on Friday night.

Muslim-Muslim ticket: With Christian wife, Tinubu is example of what Nigeria should be, says Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the party, is an example of what Nigeria’s unity should reflect.

He said this in a recent interview with ARISE TV.

He was reacting to the concerns over the decision of the APC to field Muslims as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2023 elections.

Oshiomhole dismissed the concerns, saying religion should not be an issue Nigerians should be concerned about, but that the focus should be on track record on who can provide good governance.

The former Edo governor also said Tinubu’s relationship with his wife, Remi, who is a Christian, is enough to ignore criticism concerning the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“Who is a better Christian in the Nigerian context? Somebody like asiwaju who has a Christian wife of about 40 years, happily married, no record of divorce, with four or five children, some of them Muslims, some of them Christians, is he not an example of what the nation should be?” Oshiomhole asked.

“The real question I thought would disturb anyone is, ‘if we have Muslim-Muslim ticket, will that affect the freedom of worship?’ If yes, then there’s a serious issue.Advertisement

“If we have Christian-Christian ticket, will that affect the freedom of Muslims to worship? If yes, there is an issue.

“But the truth is that both Christians and Muslims even now worship freely. So, why should it be a problem for anyone?”

Amosun spoke on Friday in Abeokuta while speaking after receiving an award from the Abeokuta Club to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the association.

The former governor had thrown his weight behind Adekunle Akinlade who contested on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement against Abiodun who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

He also assured his supporters that the nextline of action would soon be made public.

“Well, I am happy. When you are in a place and they are telling you that you have done the work of four or five governors altogether. I feel elated. I am happy that they appreciated our little efforts.

Why I won’t malign Tinubu’s image even as Atiku campaign spokesman –Daniel Bwala

Daniel Bwala, a spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, says he will not “malign” the image of Bola Tinubu, presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bwala, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spoke on Thursday during an interview with Channels Television.

He was appointed alongside Dino Melaye, a former senator, as spokesperson for the campaign organisation on Thursday.

In July, Bwala, a legal practitioner, resigned his membership of the APC over what he described as his “principles and conviction”.

He had criticised the APC over the choice of a Muslim, Kashim Shettima, former governor of Borno, as the vice-presidential candidate — since the party’s presidential flagbearer is also a Muslim.

Speaking during the interview, Bwala said he did not leave the APC because Atiku promised to reward him with an appointment as being insinuated in some quarters.

“I can tell you without mincing words, Atiku Abubakar is the last politician in Nigeria you can accuse of being nepotistic or a religious bigot. Even the fiercest critic can tell you that. If you look at the team that surrounds him at the moment, we have even less of northerners,” he said.

“I know of some persons who currently operate as political mercenaries, like one that wrote an article against me, a few days ago. They are operating as mercenaries. Let me give you an example, somebody said I left because I wanted appointment with Atiku.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the flagbearer of APC, promised that he was going to make me the presidential spokesperson for his campaign and he made the promise a few weeks before the primary, and I have witnesses that know themselves and they are of high repute in government, in the party and around him.

“This is not even a dispute. I’m saying that on record because if what I’m saying is not true, asiwaju Bola Tinubu must be seeing the interview today and my memory of asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a sweet memory.

“I have my highest regards and respect for him. I say even in this election, I will never engage in maligning his image and character. There are people that will like to tempt you to do that.

“My last memory of him was a sweet memory where he gave me regard that governors and senators did not get, and I respect that. This is not about me and asiwaju, and this is about Nigeria and what we are facing.”

Muslim-Muslim ticket: Nobody countered ACN in 2011… Nigeria’s greatness APC’s priority, says Shettima

Kashim Shettima, vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Nigerians should focus on issues and not the same faith ticket presented by his party.

Shettima and Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC, are both Muslims.

The ticket has drawn criticism from Nigerians, including members of the ruling party.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock villa, Shettima said in 2011, there wasn’t opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket presented by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at the time.

Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Fola Adeola, founder of GTBank, were the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the ACN in 2011 — they are both Muslims.

Speaking on the APC’s ticket, Shettima added that making the country great is the priority of his party.

“In 2011, the presidential candidate and the vice-presidential candidates of the ACN, both of them were Muslims. Nobody raised an eyebrow,” the former governor of Borno said.

“Now, the opposition has seen a winning combination and they are petrified, deep down to the marrow of their bones.

“We will not trade in insults, lies and mischief. We have established a track record of excellence. Let our opponents show what they have done in their respective states. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s discuss issues.

“How to propel this nation to greatness is more important than playing on the sentiments of Nigerians. Poverty knows no religion or ethnicity. Insecurity knows no religion or ethnicity.”

Also speaking, Abdullahi Adamu, APC national chairman, said there are Christians who have welcomed the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“Yes, we have been hearing concerns being expressed,” Adamu said.

“In the APC, we believe very strongly that no matter what description, no matter what faith you will associate with any one of our candidates, we are first and foremost Nigerians.

“There is no doubt in the fact that we have people who stock trade on some of these religious issues.

“Just like you have people expressing fears or concerns about a Muslim-Muslim ticket, there are Christians that welcome it as a positive development, in Nigerian politics. They are Nigerians.”

SWAGA chides Atiku over statement on APC Muslim-Muslim ticket

The National Chairman of the South West Agenda (SWAGA) 2023, Senator Dayo Adeyeye has said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has no moral justification to condemn the choice of Kashim Shettima as the running mate for the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He explained that the PDP candidate supported the Muslim-Muslim ticket in 1993 with his moves to be the running mate of MKO Abiola, adding that the APC’s choice of Shettima was the masterstroke that has put the opposition party in a panic mode ahead of the next year’s election.

Adeyeye who spoke in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State on Friday during an event to receive hundreds of members of opposition parties in the state into SWAGA, allayed the fears of the Christian faithful on the Muslim-Muslim ticket noting that Tinubu is a liberal person who will not discriminate against other religion in the country.

At the event, members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Accord Party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), National Rescue Movement (NRM) and the chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC) Ifedayo Iyaniwura signalled their readiness to work for the victory of Tinubu during the February presidential poll.

The former senate spokesman explained that the group would do everything possible to deliver the majority of votes in Ekiti for the APC presidential candidate, “who is ready to offer hope to the people and improve our livelihood,” saying people across political divides would be welcomed for the task he declared as the South West project.

He said, “We want everybody to come on board because this is not about a particular party. We have representatives of various political parties in this gathering wanting to work for the victory of Tinubu next year. Let me tell you that if we call these people today APC members, they won’t have been here but we say it is South West Agenda for our principal, and that is the reason you can see the large turnout of people across party lines. That is why we see SWAGA as the vehicle to deliver most of the votes in the southwest.

” Politics is a game of numbers and PDP can’t challenge us from the moral ground because their candidate, Atiku Abubakar believed in that ticket in 1993 as evidence has surfaced and don’t forget some of us were participants then. We knew he wanted to be vice president to MKO Abiola. So, if he was struggling to be on the ticket in 1993, why will he be opposing it now? It was evident he was going to pick Christian South this time because he is a Muslim from the North, and it is easier for him.

“I want to allay the fears of our Christian brother because I am a Christian too and Tinubu is a man who is tolerant of other religions. This is a free-minded person who will not discriminate against anyone. Take it, if Tinubu finds it difficult to Islamize his wife, is that the person that will Islamize the country when the better half is Christian and Pastor?

” I believe Tinubu-Shettima is a winning ticket and PDP is in a panic mode because they know we will have a repeat of history next year, where MKO Abiola won with a landslide, especially in the North. There is a way history repeats itself.”

On the perceived failures of the current APC-led government by the citizens, Adeyeye said the credentials and the track record of the presidential candidate when he was governor in Lagos and the trust Nigerians have in him would help in swaying the votes for the party.

“In Nigerian politics today, people should look at the personalities of those contesting and look at their track record and assess them based on what they have done in the past. Tinubu is coming with huge credentials into this race looking at how he did tremendously well when he was governor.

” People should have hope and trust in him that he will deliver. Let’s close the chapter of what happened in the past and he will start on a new plate with his ideas and bringing people will help him to achieve his plans. I can say things will work better and fine under Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president,” he said.
